In 2009, Michiel Vandevelde began a series of performances titled Creation 20xx (musicpiece). This series marked a critical deconstruction of his understanding of dance and theater at the time. Motivated by a growing discomfort with the escalating crises of the era—ecological, financial, social, and cultural—Creation 20xx sought to explore how artistic creation could remain meaningful amidst such turmoil.

During this period, Vandevelde was also studying at P.A.R.T.S., an experience that deepened his reflection on the role of art and the processes behind making it. This convergence of study and artistic creation became a catalyst for rethinking his artistic practice.

Creation 2009 (musicpiece)
The first of three creations, this piece began with a lecture-performance by Michiel Vandevelde, setting the stage for the evening. Following the indoor performance, spectators were invited outside to engage with an installation brought to life through dance and voice.

Creation 2010 (musicpiece)
Building on the foundation of the 2009 version, this iteration expanded the lecture-performance into a more elaborate piece incorporating video and sound fragments. After the indoor performance, spectators were invited outside to participate in a choreographed performance, blending observation and active engagement.

Creation 2011 (musicpiece)
In this version, the lecture-performance was replaced by an interactive discussion with the audience. The participatory choreographed performance was further developed, creating a more provocative encounter with the spectators.
