DE SINGEL, an international arts centre based in Antwerp, Belgium, hosted Michiel Vandevelde as its curator of performing arts from the 2020-2021 season through 2025-2026.

During his six-year tenure, Vandevelde was responsible for the dance and theatre programme, and he launched a series of festivals and platforms:

• CARTA: A biennial festival blending visual arts and performance.
• Radiant Nights: A multidisciplinary festival spotlighting experimental practices.
• BLISS: A triannual platform dedicated to emerging artists.
• You Can Do It: A festival addressing mental health through the arts.
• Digitise Me!: A festival exploring digitalization and AI.
• Tomorrow Will Be Too Late: A festival tackling ecological issues.

Vandevelde commissioned numerous new works by artists including Polina Kanis, Elen Braga, Bertrand Mandico, Stef Van Looveren, Maika Garnica, YouYou Group, Lara Dâmaso, Lulu Obermayer, Pauline Boudry & Renate Lorenz, Pankaj Tiwari, and many others.
